Hegin and Liu locked elbows with Monica as they walked down the Goryeo hotel hallway towards Monica’s room laughing and comparing come-on lines from the inebriated men at the EvercleaR. They reached Monica’s door and separated so Monica could retrieve her card key to her room.
“We have to help mother get ready for brunch and then prep lots of ‘Duk’ and ‘Sul’ before the beginning of the funeral tomorrow so we have to go home and get some sleep.”
“Yeah, okay.” Monica giggled and asked, “What’s duk and sul?” She pawed through her purse looking and feeling for the credit card size plastic rectangle.
“Rice cakes and Korean wine - for many guests,” replied Liu with a dreadful look.
“Well, thank you very much for the night out. That was lots of fun. I hope we can do it again?”
Hegin smiled and replied, “Yes, it was fun and yes we can do it again.”
“So, I’ll see after a few days?” asked Monica.
“Yes.” Hegin hugged Monica snugly, “It is so nice to meet you and we have lots to show you about our family and our beloved country.”
“I would love that, really,” said Monica as they separated.
Liu moved forward and hugged Monica affectionately.
Monica felt a drunken school girl oddness swirl around in her head as Liu inquisitively brushed Monica’s breast and moved into position to kiss her. Her lips were soft and supple.
Liu looked into Monica’s eyes and whispered, “Remember - a warrior trains within.”
Monica cocked her head back with a puzzled look as Liu moved away.
Hegin interjected apologetically, “Monica, just to let you know, we are very different than the men in our family and we would like to discuss it with you and teach you some family history - when the time is right. Get some sleep and we’ll see you soon.”
“I look forward to it. Good night, or,” she shook her head, “good morning.” Monica smiled, somewhat bewildered and turned to go inside her hotel room but waited with the door open and watched them.
The sisters walked gaily back towards the elevators.
Monica noticed a maid with a room service breakfast cart pull to one side and knowingly bow to the sisters as they passed. http://davidcdagley.com/
